What is the ISO 9001 standard for quality management?
ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management and is most widely used by organizations worldwide. ISO 9001 system certification is often requested by customers, prospects or partners, for example when participating in tender processes and in contractual situations. The standard describes the requirements of a good quality management system and it helps organizations to develop, gradually implement, maintain and improve quality management. The requirements set by ISO 9001 help to safeguard and improve the processes and contribute to increasing customer satisfaction.
ISO contains a basic structure with core requirements for management system standards, called the HLS (High Level Structure). The HLS contains the common structure and core requirements for all ISO management system standards, making it easier to integrate different ISO standards. This HLS is standard part of the PCT. From May 2021, there will be talk of Harmonized Structure (HS), a further development of the HLS.

The ISO 9001 audit
An audit-based certification process can be one that you have never experienced before. There can be many ambiguities, which can lead to stress. That is why it is nice if there is a tool that can guide you to ensure that the audit, which must lead to certification, for ISO 9001 and/or other standards runs smoothly for your organization. The PCT is a tool that takes you step by step and prepares your organization for the process towards certification in accordance with ISO 9001. An independent certification body (CB) will assess whether your organization meets the certification criteria for the ISO 9001 standard. The CB links any shortcomings back if there are still improvements to be made to the processes. If the audit is positive, the certification follows and your organization receives the official ISO 9001 certificate!
